BFCD was founded in 1988, when Frank Cavanagh and
Michael Donnelly joined the well established practice of Butler Fitzpatrick & Co. There are currently three partners in the firm, Margaret Deehan, Dara Ó Gaora and Victor Smith. In addition, Richard Butler and Michael Donnelly, two of the founding partners, continue as consultants to the practice.

Margaret joined BFCD in 1990 as a chartered accountant. She headed up the audit department for several years before being appointed a partner in 2000. Her extensive experience covers a wide variety of entities including owner managed businesses, professional bodies and charitable organisations. Margaret is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Working his way from apprentice in the 1990’s to partner in 2005, Dara has amassed over 16 years experience with the BFCD team. He is now engagement partner to a diverse portfolio of clients spanning a range of interests including property development, agri business, tourism, education and not-for-profit organisations. Dara is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Victor is a chartered accountant and has been taxation partner with the firm since it was formed in 1988. He advises on all areas of taxation and has extensive experience in dealing with various taxation issues arising from property transactions, restructuring of companies and dealing with Revenue investigations, audits and settlements. Victor is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and the Irish Taxation Institute.
